A talk on sustainability and couture

Fashion Designer, David Laport examines his relationship with sustainability through three core concepts. He believes that the slow methods of couture holds the key to unlocking sustainability in every wardrobe.

Excerpt: Hi, I’m David Laport and I’m a Designer.
At dinner parties I’m often asked what I do for a living, and when I say I make and design clothes I get the same response as any other entrée - a want for more... When I add that I’m in couture - now I’m a fancy flambé dessert with a cherry on top and everyone is momentarily entertained. But as is the nature of confection, it’s here today gone tomorrow - much like fast fashion. And as the second most polluting industry in the world - after oil - its time we as designers turned our appetite towards something more sustainable.
